Barmuda grass is being planted at a cost of Rs 2.7 crore in the southern square of the Army Forum.

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has planned to plant Barmuda grass at the southern boundary of the Army Pavilion to facilitate the use of the general public.

The square is currently used for youths and children in sports, senior citizens as a rest area and public programmes. The implementation of the plan aims to reduce the problem of dust and mud and increase access to open spaces and enhance environmental beauty.

The project will be implemented in an area of 61,263 square meters and is estimated to cost Rs 2.7 crore. The construction side has been given time till December 2083 to complete the work. Grass will be planted with 3 inches of fertile soil. Eight rainwater harvesting pits with a depth of 6 meters and a diameter of 1.2 meters will be constructed.

The project is expected to contribute to easy access to the public, social interaction and urban beauty.
