Kathmandu. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a writ petition filed against the 10-point agreement signed between the government and Genji representatives today. A division bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Shanti Singh Thapa will conduct the hearing.
Earlier, the court had issued an order to bring the original file of the agreement. A division bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Nityanand Pandey on January 12 had directed the government to submit the original file of the agreement through the Office of the Attorney General.
Advocate Dr. The writ petition filed by advocates Prem Raj Silwal and others argued that the agreement was against the constitution and its implementation would cause long-term damage to the state structure and constitutional practice. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Prime Minister Sushila Karki have been named as defendants in the petition.
On December 10, the government and Genji representatives signed a 10-point agreement to institutionalize the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24.TAG_OPEN_p_3 The writ petitioners have sought an interim order that the agreement will not be applicable till the final verdict is pronounced.
