Kathmandu. The main link road linking the Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel way with the Kalanki-Nagdhunga road section has become an attractive destination for morning walkers.
Hundreds of locals and people from different parts of the country throng the wide and clean road every day for physical exercise and walk.
From early morning, a significant presence can be seen on the link road from the youth to the elderly. Some are running, some are doing brisk walks and some are doing normal exercise in groups. The open environment, less vehicular movement and well-managed road infrastructure have helped this area to become a safe and easy morning walk destination in the morning.
The main objective of the link road is to connect the tunnel with the Kalanki-Nagdhunga road under the Tribhuvan Highway. There will be arrangements for vehicles to enter and exit the tunnel once the tunnel comes into operation.
At present, regular public transport operation has not started on the link road while the final preparations for the operation of the tunnel are underway. As the road is relatively quiet in the morning, people have started using it for health promotional activities.
According to the locals, the wide roads, clean environment and low traffic pressure have made this area an ideal option for morning walk at a time when the open and safe walking space is becoming limited in the capital. The number of visitors is increasing day by day, especially in the cold weather in the morning.
However, the number of vehicles along the road is expected to increase significantly once the tunnel road comes into full operation. Since it is no longer possible to walk in the morning as it is now, many people are taking advantage of this opportunity even before the tunnel is operational.
The traffic movement between Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country is expected to be easier, safer and save time with the coming into operation of the Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel way, the first road tunnel of the country. For now, this wide link road adjacent to the tunnel has become a suitable open space for exercise and morning walks for the health-loving public in the morning.
