Kathmandu. CPN-UML lawmaker Sajida Khatun Siddiqui urged the Prime Minister to be present in the parliament and give a clear answer on the issues concerning the country and the people.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmaker Siddiqui said the House of Representatives Regulations, 2083 BS have given every parliamentarian the right to ask questions directly to the Prime Minister.
“The prime minister is not the prime minister of the streets, he is the prime minister of the country and the Nepali people. He should come to the parliament and put forth a clear view on the dignity of the country and respect for the people. Learn to be serious in favour of the country and people, Mr. Prime Minister. ’
Stating that the parliamentarians would not only keep the government alert but also play a role in making the government successful and stronger, she said the government’s accountability towards the parliament was becoming weaker.
Stating that the works carried out by the incumbent government could not be claimed to be cent percent successful, she blamed the government for failing to implement the government’s goal of ‘Happy Nepali, Prosperous Nepal’ and the fundamental rights of the people.
“Are all the works done by the government 100 per cent successful? Has the fundamental rights of the people been fully guaranteed? From the perspective of a parliamentarian, the government seems to be not moving as per the goal of ‘Happy Nepali, Prosperous Nepal’. ’
Referring to the ongoing investigation against CPN-UML Central Vice-Chairman Bishnu Poudel, she claimed that it was not appropriate to extend the deadline without sufficient evidence. She also questioned whether the government could take responsibility for her honour and defamation if the evidence was not found.
“It is not appropriate to extend the deadline without any evidence,” she said. If no evidence is found, how can the government take responsibility for his honour and defamation?”
Siddiqui also expressed dissatisfaction over the Prime Minister’s recent public statements, saying they were not in the interest of the country.
