Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the political parties that have garnered a huge mandate are weakened due to internal conflict and conflict among the leadership.

Inaugurating the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) at Bharatpur of Chitwan on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that although various political parties in the country enjoyed a huge mandate in the past, they could not manage it properly.

He said, “About three or four times the political parties of Nepal got a big mandate. But each time, the public opinion crashed. There was a clash between the arrogance of the leaders of the political party that won the mandate, there was a clash between the people. Due to which the accident occurred. ’

He said the political parties have become weak due to the growing arrogance, individualistic tendencies and internal conflict in the party after getting the people’s mandate.

Pointing out the need for a culture of healthy criticism and self-criticism in the political parties, Thapa said that one should have the courage to question one’s own party leaders. He said that the tendency to present leaders as ‘God’ or ‘Ba’ has damaged the political parties.

“You should not stop asking questions within your own party,” he said. We have made a mistake by making our party leaders gods and fathers. You don’t have to. When you make a mistake, question your leaders. We were late and punished. We should have said a little earlier that our party is not a party of slaves and corpses, but we could not. We were late. You will learn from it. Have the courage and courage to question your own leaders. When you make a mistake, you should be able to tell your own party rather than other parties. ’

Admitting that the Nepali Congress failed to acknowledge its shortcomings in time, he said other parties should learn from it. He was of the view that the culture of questioning its own leadership when it makes mistakes could make the political parties democratic and accountable.

Thapa also urged the leaders and cadres of the RSP to raise questions and maintain critical consciousness without blindly supporting the leadership.
