Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane is leaving for India on June 3.

According to sources, he is going to India at the invitation of the Ministry of External Affairs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S S Chidambaram will be in India for two days. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Bikram Misri and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are also scheduled to hold high-level meetings.

He is also scheduled to meet the office-bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the past, India had also paid similar official visits to the then CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

A leader close to the BJP said that as the president of the country’s largest party and the ruling party, Ravi is also going to visit India now.

Relations between India and Nepal have been strained in recent times. Indian External Affairs Minister Vikram Misri has postponed his visit to Nepal due to border disputes including Lipulekh. Although Prime Minister Balendra Shah has accepted the invitation to visit India, it is not certain when he will leave.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal’s two visits to India have also been postponed. At this time, RSP President Lamichhane’s visit to India has been seen as meaningful.
