Kathmandu. Lions International Multiple 325 is collaborating with the government for the rescue, relief and reconstruction of the people affected by the recent devastating floods. The Lions have also come up with a plan to provide immediate relief and help in the rehabilitation of the affected areas.

The Lions have already deposited Rs 1,01,11,111 in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund at the initiative of Multiple Council Chairman Lion Keshar Bahadur Bhandari. However, preparations have been made to mobilize additional funds in the affected areas without limiting the relief campaign to that.

According to Lions, at least Rs 1 crore more will be collected from 15 districts under multiple districts. According to the decision to collect a minimum of Rs 6,66,666 per district, various districts have started collecting money. District 325F has already deposited the amount in the accounts of the multiple districts.

The funds collected will be directly mobilized in the flood-affected areas, according to Lions. For the time being, along with the distribution of food, tarpaulins, clothes and other necessary materials, coordination is being made with the local agencies in the management of rescue and temporary shelter.

Similarly, additional assistance of $200,000 has been approved for relief and reconstruction, according to Lions. President Bhandari said that the organization is ready to cooperate in the construction and reconstruction of schools, health posts and other necessary infrastructure in the affected areas as per the government’s priority.

Lions has been working in the field of health, education, disaster management, and social service in Nepal for a long time. According to the organization, Lions has been involved in the eradication of blindness, expansion of health services, distribution of oxygen and health materials during the COVID-19 pandemic and reconstruction of 18 schools after the 2015 earthquake.

President Bhandari has pledged to provide relief to the affected people by coordinating with the government during the time of disaster and will continue to support the reconstruction as per the need. The Lions have said that they will also cooperate in long-term reconstruction to restore the life of the affected people along with the immediate relief.
