Kathmandu. Preliminary estimates suggest that the Bhotekoshi floods and disasters have caused an economic loss of more than Rs 3.87 trillion.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 7,570 private houses have been damaged. Similarly, 48 government structures, 18 schools and seven health facilities have been completely and partially damaged.
On the transport side, 55 kilometers of road has been completely damaged while 37 motorable bridges and 68 suspension bridges have been damaged.
The NRA has estimated that the total economic damage and losses due to floods will be Rs 387.54 billion. It is estimated that Rs 7.15 billion will be needed for quick recovery.
The government has given priority to the transportation of relief materials to the flood-affected areas. The Armed Police Force has sent relief materials to Nuwakot and Rasuwa in 163 flights from Kathmandu to 69 trucks and 38 jeeps.
The government has provided Rs 10 million each to Rasuwa and Nuwakot, Rs 5 million to Dhading and Rs 135 million to the affected 15 municipalities.
The communication services disrupted due to the floods are gradually coming into operation. 116 out of 120 towers of Nepal Telecom and 75 out of 78 towers of Ncell have been brought into operation.
