Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Swarnim Wagle has said that there has been an unprecedented generational change in the country’s political leadership and the private sector should also change its working style and thinking.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 60th annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here today, Finance Minister Wagle said that the 36-year-old Prime Minister leading the nation and the fact that he is the oldest member in the Council of Ministers at 50 years were the signs of a big change in the country.

Finance Minister Wagle said that the incumbent government would be more ruthless against the middleman tendency and corruption in Nepal’s administrative and political mechanism. He also said that the culture of working on the basis of access and information has come to an end. He said that the environment was almost impossible for those who want to do business honestly with the bureaucracy and the regulatory mechanism, but this is no longer the case.

“Four-five months ago, did anyone imagine that a 36-year-old prime minister would lead the country with a strong force? It’s a big change.

Therefore, the private sector also has no option but to accept this unprecedented mandate. But sometimes it can take time to forget old habits and change them.

My very ‘funding’ towards you and how we are going to go together now. As I said earlier, we cannot build this country without the private sector and we need to change the mindset and approach of the private sector. And as I said there, it has become almost impossible for many enterprising businessmen to say that they are doing business honestly because of this discursion-oriented bureaucracy, this crack of the regulator. ’

On the occasion, Finance Minister Wagle said that development of the country was impossible without the participation of the private sector. He suggested that the private sector should also give up old habits and choose a transparent and entrepreneurial path in the context of the new people’s mandate by the government.

He also said that the government was committed to improving the business environment by promoting the use of technology and good conduct. He also said that the government would move ahead as per the promise brought by the RSP. –
