National Assembly Chair Dahal and Turkish Speaker meet to establish embassy in Nepal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Chairman of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmus, paid a courtesy call on him today.

Chairman Dahal, who is in Istanbul to attend the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş today.

During the meeting, matters relating to bilateral relations, mutual interests and parliamentary cooperation were discussed.

During the bilateral meeting, Chairman Dahal said that the relations between the two countries should be further strengthened through parliamentary cooperation and they were eager for the exchange of parliamentary experiences, visits and formation of parliamentary friendship group.

Stating that the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been based on harmony and mutual respect since 6 decades, Chairman Dahal urged the government to establish a Turkish Embassy in Nepal to further strengthen the bilateral relations in the days ahead.

He said that Nepalis have to go to New Delhi to carry out all the works related to Turkey, adding that the signing of labour agreement between Nepal and Turkey would further facilitate the cooperation between the two countries if the Turkish Embassy was established in Nepal.

Chairman Dahal thanked the Turkish government and parliament for the warm welcome and cordiality in the IPU General Assembly

On the occasion, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş said that he was pleased to welcome the Nepali parliamentary delegation including the Chairman of the National Assembly in Istanbul.

“We are always ready to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Turkey and Nepal,” he said, adding that Turkey was positive to open a Turkish embassy in Nepal.

Stating that the Turkish government has made arrangement of educational scholarships with limited quota for Nepal, he pledged to increase the quota of scholarships and also increase trade between the two countries.
