Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Municipal Education Committee has reviewed the implementation status of the decisions taken since 2074 BS. In the meeting presided over by Chairperson of the Committee and Acting Chief of Mahanage Group Sunita Dangol, Education Officer Keshav Gyawali made a presentation on the main decisions taken by the committee in the last 8 years and their implementation status.
A decision has been taken to declare the metropolis a literate city, to give authority to the education officer to certify the statute of public and private guthi and to give the responsibility of managing the headmaster to the education department. Likewise, not granting permission to conduct classes of class 1 and directing the Department of Education to make schools write their names in Nepali, English and Nepal Bhasa are important decisions.
Similarly, the decision to give permission to the child care, Montessori pre-primary level classes and to give the responsibility of recording the education to the education department is in implementation.
It was informed in the meeting that 42 schools have been contacted for the public notice of scrapping of 107 schools that were not registered and not in operation. Of them, seven are in operation and 35 are ready to operate, according to the department. Along with the review of the last meeting, there were 9 proposals in the meeting.
In the meeting, Chair Dangol directed the Department to complete the social mapping of the school within 10 days. “Complete all the preparations before the start of the academic session,” he said, “Prioritize programs to reduce the arrears of the schools and to build the capacity of teachers in technology and technology.” ’
Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain stressed the need for the Department to formulate innovative programmes to run educational programs for measurable educational results.
Similarly, coordinator of the Health Education Committee, Chinikaji Maharjan, stressed on the need of giving equal priority to both the programs of student admission and regularization.
