President Bhandari to pay obeisance to white Machhendranath temple on March 12

Kathmandu. The chariot is being constructed for the chariot procession of Seto Machhendranath, the god of rain and good harvest, that will begin on the day of Chaite Dashain from Tindhara Pathshala at Durbarmarg.

According to the Guthi Sansthan, the construction of chariots has begun from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Corporation’s Spokesperson Janak Pokharel told RSS that the chariot would be built on Chaitra Shukla Saptami i.e. Chaitra 11.

The chariot procession of Seto Machhendranath will begin from 4:00 pm on March 26 from Tindhara Pathshala. Every year, the chariot procession of Seto Machhendranath is held in the capital from Chaitra Shukla Ashtami to Dashami.

This year, the chariot will be transported to Asan on the first day, March 26. After the chariot arrives, worship will be done. The chariot procession will continue for three days in the inner part of the city. The chariot procession will pass through Asan, Basantapur, Jaisideol and Lagan before concluding at Machhendrabahal. It is customary for the corporation to make arrangements for the construction of the chariot.

According to Nilkaji Shakya, priest of Seto Machhendranath, committee coordinator and former chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-25, there is a tradition of taking Kumari to the premises of Teendhara Pathshala on March 25 on the day of Chaitra Shukla Ashtami.

The President will visit on the night of March 26

President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to visit the chariot at around 10 pm on March 26 and receive prasad. There is a tradition that the Head of the State reaches the seat on the night of pulling the chariot of the white Machhendranath and worships and receives the prasad.

A 32-cubit-long chariot has been built in front of Tindhara Pathshala and pulled since the day of Chaite Dashain. This chariot is considered to be the symbol of Nagraj. There is a religious belief that after this festival every year, there will be rain and bearing. On the second day i.e. March 13, the chariot is taken from Asan to Kalbhairav in Basantapur.

On the third day, March 28, there is a tradition of taking the Jatra from Basantapur to Lagan and taking it to Lagna. The chariot is rotated three times in the temple of the mother of White Machhendranath. After the completion of the Rath Yatra of White Machhendranath in the capital, the Rath Yatra of Rato Machhendranath takes place.
