Kathmandu. Nepal is taking on Bhutan in the opening match of the SAFF Women’s Championship today. The match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, India from 5:45 pm Nepali time.
Both teams are looking for a winning start in the game. Both of them will be playing their first Group ‘A’ match. Nepal is the 6-time runner-up of the tournament. Bhutan, on the other hand, has not been able to score higher than the semi-finals in the tournament so far.
The team reached the semi-finals in the 2022 and 2024 editions. Nepal has not lost to Bhutan in the SAFF Championship so far. There have been five matches between the two so far. Nepal won four matches while one match ended in a draw.
The two first faced each other in the 2014 SAFF Championship. Nepal won the match 8-0. Nepal had won the match 6-0 in 2016. Nepal had won 3-0 in 2019 and 4-0 in 2022. In the last edition of 2024, the two played a goalless draw.
