Dangol directs to renovate the roof of Kumari House immediately

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has directed the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) authorities to renovate the roof of Kumari Bahal (Kumari Ghar) before the rainy season this year.

Inspecting the roof renovation work on Thursday, she directed the construction team to complete the work on time without affecting the religious, cultural and social aspects related to Kumari Ghar.

The contractor signed an agreement with Ajay Construction Service on March 25 and the renovation work started from March 9.

The contract period is till February 13, 2083. According to the rate of fiscal year 2082/83, the cost of restoration of the roofing components including shingles, timber and other roofing components was estimated to be Rs 1,25,47,864. The contractor selected through open competition has bid for the construction of the project at a cost of Rs 7,124,689.

During the inspection, acting mayor Dangol said that Kumari Bahal was the face of Kathmandu and she had come to the metropolis for the renovation after getting information about the leaking roof of the metropolis.

“We conducted a technical study after holding discussions with the stakeholders and locals before the renovation started. We discussed the legal and administrative process. The work has been started on the basis of the technical report received in this course and consensus with the partners. Everyone should stand together to make this work of public importance a success,” he said.

During the inspection, discussions were held with the stakeholders and locals about the religious, cultural and social aspects of daily operation of the Kumari Ghar, the relationship of the roof with other physical structures and the protection of other structures while repairing the roof.
