Kathmandu. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has stressed the need for policy clarity to improve the condition of government-owned financial institutions. Speaking at the 36th anniversary celebrations of the Citizens Investment Trust (CIT) here today, he said some financial institutions established in the past were in a worrisome condition.

“I don’t know where four of the rural development banks established by the government have disappeared. One bank is now operating in a weak state after merging with various agencies. ’

Khanal also pointed out that in the history of Nepal, the government had to rescue the government-owned financial institutions before they were 35 years old. He said that the CIT has faced some problems due to the loan issued by the government as collateral under the policy-level investment.

“In the history of Nepal, the government had to rescue the government-owned financial institutions before they turned 35. The Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) has faced problems in some cases due to the collateral loans made under the policy investment of the Government of Nepal. We have to find the right alternative, the right solution. ’

He said that it was necessary to find an appropriate alternative for the long-term solution to such problems.
