Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that the new government should bring stable and private sector-friendly policies.
Addressing the Pharma Expo that kicked off at Bhrikutimandap in the capital today, he said the private sector had been pointing out the need of a stable government for a long time. According to him, a stable government can increase economic activities by bringing a stable policy.
Stating that the government is going to be formed with around two-thirds majority, Dhakal reminded that issues related to the private sector have also been included in the manifesto. Stating that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has made private sector-friendly commitments through the promises, he said those commitments should be implemented honestly. According to Dhakal, if these commitments are implemented effectively, it will be possible to do a lot of work in a short time. He also said that the incumbent government should adopt policies that encourage foreign and domestic investment.
Chairman Dhakal said, “The new government is coming in line with the political changes. In fact, the private sector has long been raising the issue of wanting a stable government that the private sector has always said that it can bring stable policies. Now there is a government of about two-thirds majority. The issues of the private sector have also been mentioned in the manifesto. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has made private sector-friendly commitments. Now those commitments have to be implemented honestly.
If these commitments are implemented, a lot of work can be done in a short time. Permanent policies should be made while making policies in the coming days. Policies should be made to encourage external and internal investment. ’
Dhakal said that the investors are feeling disappointed due to some retrospective laws and the state should ensure that such laws are not enforced.
According to Dhakal, economic activities can be increased in the country soon if the retrospective laws are not enforced. With the increase in economic activities, the revenue collection will also increase, which will also help in the construction of infrastructure. He also expressed the belief that aspirations of ordinary Nepalis could be fulfilled within a short period of time with the expansion of economic activities.
