Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Narendra Sah Kalwar has won the House of Representatives election from Sarlahi-3.
He garnered 46,890 votes while his nearest rival Narayan Kaji Shrestha garnered 13,338 votes, according to election officer Nawaraj Acharya. RSP’s Sah had taken the lead in this constituency from the initial round of vote counting.
Newly-elected Sah won the election with a margin of 33,552 votes. Hari Prasad Upreti of CPN-UML got 5,776 votes, Binod Khanal of Nepali Congress got 6,624 votes and Tribhuvan Kumar Singh of Ujyalo Nepal got 2,622 votes. The vote counting took place this morning, said Election Officer Acharya.
Success on third attempt
Shah, who won the upcoming election, has succeeded in his third attempt. Sah, a proportional representation member of the second Constituent Assembly, had contested as an independent candidate in 2074 BS. He lost to Rameshwor Raya Yadav, a leader of the then CPN (Maoist Centre). Sah had contested the election in 2079 BS from the then CPN (Maoist Centre).
He lost to UML’s Upreti by a narrow margin. He had been contesting the election to the House of Representatives with a ticket from the Rastriya Swatantra Party on the verge of filing his candidacy this time. This time, however, he has been able to travel directly to the parliament. Out of 134,412 voters, 82,272 votes were cast in the constituency.
