Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary and candidate for the House of Representatives from Dang-2, Shankar Pokharel, has claimed that the Nepali people would reject anarchy, destruction and instability through the election.
Reacting to the exercise, General Secretary Pokharel expressed the belief that the upcoming election would reinstate the issues of democracy, constitutional system and national interest through the people’s mandate, saying the country’s democracy, constitutional system and national interest were at risk.
He said that the election should be taken as an important event in the political history of Nepal. Stating that political instability was the main obstacle to development and prosperity in Nepal, he pointed out that populism and anarchy emerging in the society were big challenges for political stability.
Though not all problems will be resolved from this election, it will take the right path and democracy will get the basis of stability in the future, he said. Speaking about the election results, Pokharel claimed that the major political parties of Nepal that stand on the foundation of ideology will be established as the main force.
“Nepali people have realized that pushing the country towards anarchy and destruction is not in the long-term interest of the nation,” he said. Giving the examples of the latest political developments and election results in the South Asian countries of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Pokharel expressed the belief that the Nepali people would reject the devastation and instability like the people of these countries.
“At a time when the questions of democracy, constitutional system and national interest are at risk, it is of great importance to restore these things through the means of public opinion,” he said. And in that sense, it should be taken as an important event in Nepal’s political history. I have cast my vote with the belief that this will naturally give the right direction to democracy. It’s hard to predict the future.
But it is necessary for the general public to realise that Nepal’s political instability is a hindrance to Nepal’s development and prosperity. Populism and anarchism emerging in our society at present is a challenge to the political stability of Nepal. There is no guarantee that everything will be resolved through this election, but it will take the right path and democracy will find the basis of stability in the future. I am confident that this election will lay the foundation for that. As far as the outcome of the election is concerned, there is no doubt that the major political parties of Nepal who are based on ideology will be the main force in the future.
Because the Nepali people seem to have realized that taking the country towards anarchy and destruction is not in the long-term interest of the country. And especially in South Asia, the results of recent elections in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, countries where similar incidents have taken place in South Asia, seem to reject those involved in the destruction of the nation. It seems to be rejecting anarchy, rejecting instability.
In that sense, it is clear that the Nepalese people are no less aware than the kind of alertness shown by the people of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and I am sure that this will be reflected through the public opinion. ’
