Necessary preparations for tomorrow’s election in final stage

Kathmandu. Preparations for tomorrow’s election have reached the final stage. According to the Election Commission, barring sporadic preparations, most of the preparations have been completed. An integrated security team comprising Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and National Investigation Department has been mobilized in all 77 districts.

Election materials and employees have already reached all the polling stations. Booth construction, material management and all-party coordination are underway. Materials have been transported to 24 remote areas including 20 in Dolpa and four in Humla.

Employees and security personnel have also been deployed in remote areas. An all-party meeting has already been held at the provincial, district, municipality and ward levels to make the election peaceful and amicable. According to the security agencies, 176 people have been arrested so far for attempting to disrupt the elections. Although fake suspicious objects were found in some places, the security mechanism has defused them.

The Election Commission has urged all concerned not to misuse the vehicle pass. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has stated that domestic flights will be operated as per the need. Arrangements have been made to operate the necessary banking services during the election period so that the financial services are not affected due to public holidays.

Overall, due to security, administrative coordination, material management and favourable weather conditions, preparations for the election have almost been completed. The weather is also predicted to have no major impact on the day of voting. There is no possibility of rain tomorrow. Although the weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly and mountainous region, the weather will remain clear on the whole, according to the meteorologist.

Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm. The Election Commission has urged the voters to participate in the voting without any fear. A total of 1,89,03,689 voters are eligible to cast their votes this time. The Election Commission has set up 10,967 polling stations and 23,112 polling stations across the country.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said necessary arrangements have been made to make the voting process smooth and fast. According to him, the commission has made arrangements for separate queues for men and women and priority for the elderly, new mothers, disabled and people with disabilities so that they do not have to stand in line.
