Kathmandu. SUNSARI: Police in Sunsari have arrested a youth on the charge of spreading false rumors related to the elections through Facebook. The arrestees have been identified as Inaruwa Municipality Ward No. The deceased has been identified as Ram Chandra Thakur, 27, of Mahendrachowk-3.
According to a press release issued by the District Police Office, Sunsari, Thakur had uploaded and shared the video using the Facebook ID of Ram Chandra Thakur with the intention of influencing the election of the members of the House of Representatives.
He was arrested with the technical support of Nepal Police Headquarters, Cyber Bureau Kathmandu from his own location at Mahendra Chowk in Inaruwa. The police have also confiscated the mobile device used to spread the rumour.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bahadur Khadka said that Thakur has been kept at the District Police Office, Sunsari for further investigation.
