Kathmandu. The government has initiated investigation and action against Nepali licensed foreign employment agencies associated with the Foreign Worker Centralized Management System (FWCMS) of Malaysia.
The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has directed 25 licensed organizations listed as the main recruitment agencies in the FWCMS system not to continue their affiliation with the Malaysian employment syndicate.
In addition, the affiliated organizations have been directed to submit factual information with evidence that they have gone out of the system and not to be newly affiliated. The new pre-approval process for Malaysia of the 250 organizations said to be listed as subsidiary organizations of these organizations has also been stopped for the time being.
The department has taken the latest step as per the directive of the Ministry of Youth, Labor and Employment and the ministerial decision of September 12, 2008. Earlier, Malaysia had listed only 25 manpower companies in Nepal to hire workers. Entrepreneurs have been protesting saying that it is a syndicate.
The Ministry has said administrative and diplomatic initiatives are underway to resolve the issue of labour migration with Malaysia through government-to-government dialogue.
