Kathmandu. Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) Kaski leader Raju Rai has quit the party. Concluding that politics is not a straightforward and honest job, he announced his resignation from the party through social media today.
Rai wrote on Facebook, “Politics is not a straightforward and honest work, from today onwards I will not waste even a penny and a second for politics and
party.
He had written a Facebook status two days ago saying that voting for a party that should know the leader and buy a ticket is a debt on his own head.
Rai had contested from Kaski-1 in the 2017 BS election garnering 10,941 votes. CPN-UML’s Man Bahadur Gurung won the election with 25,708 votes while NC’s Kishor Dutta Baral came second with 23,189 votes. Rai, who left the party, is still aspiring for the ticket.
The Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) has fielded Khadak Raj Poudel, who had contested the mayoral election in Pokhara with the symbol of a stick, by not giving ticket to Rai, who had garnered 10,000 votes in the last election. Rai was dissatisfied with the party leadership ever since Paudel was given the ticket.
More than a dozen leaders have left the RSP in recent times, citing financial irregularities in ticket distribution.
