Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Announcing his candidacy for the post of Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Hemraj Dhakal has made production-oriented economy his main agenda.
Claiming that he has been able to do remarkable work even in adverse circumstances, Dhakal, who is currently the commodity vice-president, said that his first priority would be to increase the morale of entrepreneurs and production-oriented economy.
Stating that resolving the problems of the private sector was his main responsibility, he said that if elected, he would clearly put forth the issues that should be put before the government and if necessary, he would knock on the doors of the government bodies. Speaking at the candidacy announcement program held in the capital today, he said that efforts were made to maintain policy stability and amend various laws during the previous term. He also said that significant achievements have been made in the areas of tax reform. He, however, admitted that the political instability has created some fear among the entrepreneurs and the investment-friendly environment has not been prepared as expected. Expressing his commitment to take initiatives to pass the laws that have been stalled at the government level in the coming days, Dhakal said that the private sector would actively work to make the market dynamic, strengthen the stagnant economy and maintain the economic growth rate.
Pointing out the need of creating employment opportunities in the country to stop the trend of youths going abroad from the country, he said a policy would be adopted to encourage production-oriented economy. He said that his priority would be to protect the rights and interests of entrepreneurs, policy reforms and problem facilitation.
Dhakal, a candidate for the post of senior vice-president, said, “A lot of work has been done even in adverse conditions. Behind the upcoming Gen-G movement is the talk of inclusivity. As an umbrella organization of the private sector, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) will be equally active and clearly communicate with the government while the economic agenda is also moving forward.
When the economy is not moving, we will have to work to overcome the pressure on the economy. For this, we will move forward as per the mandate of the members of the federation. I ask my team to believe in me. ’
Announcing his candidacy for the post of senior vice-president, Dhakal said his team was ready to form a team unitedly without dividing the private sector. Jyotsna Shrestha has announced her candidacy for the post of associate vice-president from Dhakal’s panel. He is currently an associate vice president. Likewise, Umesh Dalmiya and Kalpana Gaire have filed their candidacy for the post of vice-chairperson, Naresh Lal Shrestha for the post of commodity vice-president and Kamala Shrestha for the post of woman vice-chairperson.
