Kathmandu. Prabin Syangtang, a youth leader of Raksirang Rural Municipality, has quit his medical profession to join politics. He has filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives election from Makawanpur constituency-2 on a candidate of Ujjyalo Nepal Party. This is the first election for Syangtan who has been active in politics at the age of nineteen.
Though it was challenging to contest the election representing a new party and a new force, Syangtan said he was already on the path to victory. “The challenge is natural, but the people have felt the change,” he said, adding, “The people have understood the fact that the Ujyal Nepal Party under the leadership of Kulman Ghising has brought the country to a load-shedding free situation from eighteen hours of load-shedding.” This is our first base. According to Syangtaan, the second base is the honesty, diligence and educated manpower of the party and the candidates. “We understand the needs of the society and that’s why people trust us,” he added.
Syangtan, who is currently busy in door-to-door campaigning, said voters have both hope and complaints. According to him, people have long been dissatisfied with the lack of basic infrastructure and development in the villages of the western, northern and southern parts of Makwanpur.
“People are suffering due to past mistakes, negligence and lack of development. If we get the opportunity to represent them, we will work by giving priority to those issues,” he said.
Asked why he should win, Syangtan said bluntly, “We believe in action and results rather than gossip. Only the result will change the country and society. He also reiterated the commitment to address the growing frustration of youths and the compulsion for foreign employment. According to him, the voters should not repeat their mistakes now as the political parties and individuals which were elected by the people for the past decades have not been able to deliver the expected development and change. “People are looking for change and we are the agents of that change,” he said.
