Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has drawn the attention of all concerned to be serious about the misuse of technology as there is a risk of undermining the impartiality of the election.
The NHRC has also urged the bodies concerned including the mass media not to disseminate wrong information in the social networking sites and play a supportive role.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari urged all not to post misleading content on social networking sites and make the election dignified. He also urged the media not to make public the election results.
“Some recent practices have involved predicting victory and defeat based on voter conversations before voting, or the results are published through polls,” he said. The Commission has drawn serious attention to this. ”
The Election Commission has urged the election code of conduct, 2082 not to discourage the candidates by announcing the election results in advance as it could mislead the independent decision of the voters.
The Commission has been making special request to the government not to disseminate the misleading content created through the use of AI in the social networking sites in view of the rapid development of technology. The EC has drawn the attention of the government to be serious towards the possibility of misuse of technology affecting the election impartiality although it has eased the flow of information.
The EC is of the view that everyone should work considering their responsibility to fully comply with the election code of conduct.
