House of Representatives elections: Ballot papers, ballot boxes to be transported by helicopter to 10 polling centres

Kathmandu. Ballot boxes are to be transported by helicopter to 10 polling centres in Bajura for the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.

As many as 10 polling centres in the district are still out of transport access. Out of the 77 polling centers, ballot boxes will be transported by helicopter to 10 polling centers. The Himal Bhakti polling centre located in Himali Rural Municipality-3 is considered the most remote polling centre in the district.

The road network is yet to reach here. More than 70 voters have been designated as the Himal Bhakti polling station in the Himalayan monastery. In the last election also, ballot papers and ballot boxes were transported here by helicopter.

A team comprising security agencies headed by Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula carried out monitoring and found 10 polling stations still out of the reach of transport, according to the District Administration Office, Bajura.

Five polling stations in Himali Rural Municipality, two in Swamikartik Khapar and one each in Jagannath and Triven÷i Rural Municipality are off the road network. The polling stations in the district, which do not have road connectivity, are also considered sensitive from the security point of view.

Of the 77 polling stations in the district, 62 have been categorised as hyper-sensitive, 12 as sensitive and three as normal. In Bajura, 7 political parties including one independent are in the fray. There will be an interesting competition between the people of the four main parties.

There are more than 87,000 voters in Bajura district. There are 45,428 male and 42,431 female voters. There are 77 polling stations and 118 polling stations in the district, according to the Election Office, Bajura.
