Kathmandu. Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has said that the development and empowerment of Madhes was possible from the leadership and initiative of Madhesi people instead of depending on external forces.
Addressing a programme organized to welcome new entrants of the party at Janakpurdham on Wednesday, Yadav said Madhesi people would build the future of Madhes by putting behind the discrimination prevailing in the state structure.TAG_OPEN_p_11
According to him, an imbalance has been maintained in the electoral system to keep Madhes politically weak.TAG_OPEN_p_10 He accused the government of reducing the value of votes of Madhesi people while determining the constituencies on the basis of geography and not on the basis of population.
Giving the example of Saptari-3, Yadav said, “There is limited representation of a single representative even though there is more than one million population, but there is more representation in the hilly region.TAG_OPEN_p_9 This is unfair. ”
He claimed that he did not want to determine the electoral constituencies on the basis of population fearing the political influence of the big political parties UML, NC and Maoist-Madhes.TAG_OPEN_p_8 “The reforms have been stalled for fear that Madhes will become stronger,” he said.
Accusing the Nepali Congress (NC) of using the Madhesi votes to reach power but ignoring the issues of Madhes, Yadav said that the new political forces were also following the old stream.TAG_OPEN_p_7
