Kathmandu. On the occasion of Students’ Day, the United Students’ Union (USU) staged a march in Kathmandu on Friday with the slogan ‘Let’s resist the ban’.

The students who participated in the march pass from Trichandra Campus to RR Campus raised their voice in favor of the autonomy, freedom of expression and rights of the university. They carried placards with slogans such as “Enough is enough”, “There is no one to speak the jasmine of the poor”, “Ensure autonomy of the university” and “Prime Minister Nasha, Desh Dasma”.

Student unions said they were protesting against the government’s plan to ban student unions inside the university. They warned that any move that undermines democratic practice will not be acceptable.

The Students’ Day demonstration is seen as a symbolic protest in support of student rights, independent student politics and the autonomy of educational institutions.
