Iran tightens security vigil along Strait of Hormuz

Kathmandu. Iran has tightened security surveillance along the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s military spokesman Mohammad Akraminiya said the country’s security forces were guarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the movement of ships through important sea routes will be based on the coordination and approval of Iranian authorities.

“The management of the Strait of Hormuz falls under Iran’s jurisdiction and necessary safeguards have been taken in response to the current situation,” Xinhua news agency reported. He also said Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and its national army were jointly conducting surveillance and security in the region.

Iran has been in control of the Strait of Hormuz since February 28. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important routes for global energy supply and international trade. Therefore, the world community has been paying attention to the activities taking place in this area.
