Kathmandu. As the government prepares to intensify its campaign to remove illegal structures built on the banks of the river, there is panic and excitement in the squatters of Kathmandu.
On Thursday, landless squatters living near the Dhobi Khola corridor in the seven-storey area of Kapan were seen moving their belongings. The government is preparing to demolish all the structures built near the river from Friday.
As the government prepares to deploy dozers, families living in the affected areas have started moving their daily belongings to safer places. Prior to this, campaigns were being carried out to remove the structures built by encroaching on the river banks in various places of Kathmandu.
