Kathmandu. Mustang, the Forbidden Kingdom of the Himalayan district, is still winning the hearts of tourists. The winter season here is showing both beauty and challenge. It is beautiful to see the snow-covered hotels in the Muktinath area, tourists riding horses, groups walking on snow. The Muktinath temple area is thick with snow.

Lower Mustang has received such good snowfall after four years. Tourists are travelling on horses and mules. Hotels are open, but heavy snow blocks roads, but there are still crowds of Indian pilgrims.

The number of pilgrims visiting Muktinath has doubled as compared to last year. The number of Indian pilgrims has increased significantly. This is proof that Mustang is becoming worth visiting throughout the year, even in winter. But the situation in Upper Mustang (Lomanthang, Korala) is different. The Kagbeni-Korala road section has been completely obstructed due to heavy snowfall. More than 2 feet of snow has accumulated in many places. Locals have moved to the lower areas. The villages are deserted. This combination of cold, snow, and beauty is what makes Mustang still special. This vibrant winter of Mustang is beautiful, it is also difficult.
