Daughter-in-law arrested on charge of mother-son murder in Bara

Kathmandu. Police have arrested the daughter-in-law of the deceased on suspicion of her involvement in the murder of a mother and son in Parwanipur Rural Municipality of Bara district.

The deceased have been identified as Sumitra Devi Mandal, 46, and her 28-year-old son Rameshwor Mandal.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Kunwar said that Manita Devi Mandal, 25, wife of the deceased Rameshwor was arrested for questioning. According to him, Manita was taken into custody after the nature of the incident was suspicious.

According to the police, unidentified persons entered the house at around 3 am and attacked the sleeping family with a sharp weapon. His mother Sumitra and son Rameshwor died on the spot.

The injured have been identified as 52-year-old Jagroop Mandal and 22-year-old Reena Kumari Mandal. The injured are undergoing treatment at LS Neuro Hospital in Parwanipur, police said.

Further investigation is underway to find out who committed the murder and for what purpose, said the District Police Office, Bara.
