Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Special Court is hearing on a corruption case related to the procurement of medical equipment from the Public Health Laboratory in Madhes Province today.
A three-member bench of Chairman of the Special Court Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Justice Bidur Koirala on Tuesday decided to hear the case against the then secretary, director and 9 other defendants.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against 9 persons, including the then secretary at the Ministry of Social Development, Im Narayan Shrestha, accounts officer Nabin Das, and senior health administrator Mukti Narayan Sah. The commission has claimed a recovery of Rs 21,89,39,780 against the respondents.
Similarly, the then director of the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Dr. The case has also been filed against Shrawan Kumar Mishra, senior lab technician Gunananda Prasad Sah, technologist Manmohan Mishra and lab technologist Ram Udgar Sah, among others.
The anti-graft body has also sought the same amount against microbiologists Jitendra Kumar Sah and Amrendra Kumar Mishra, medical lab technologist Dipendra Kumar Mishra, lab assistants Ramesh Kumar Mandal, Karmashil Prasad Gop, Umesh Chaudhary, Account Officer Amardeep Mahato and proprietor of Hospitech Enterprises Bishal Pandit.
