. KATHMANDU: Nepal Taekwondo Association is organizing the fourth Mount Everest International Taekwondo Championship (WT G-1) and the second Mount Everest GCS International Poomsae Championship (WT G-1) from February 14.
Organising Association’s vice-president Bhan Bahadur Chand shared at a press conference here that around 1,TAG_OPEN_p_7 500 athletes from 20 countries are taking part in the championship. According to him, competition would be held for a total of 74 gold medals under Gerogi and Poomsae events.
Players who are undergoing special training under the ‘Mission-2026’ being run by the National Sports Council (NSC) will also participate in the tournament, said Kumar TAG_OPEN_p_6 Lama Ghising, a member of the association.
According to the organizers, the cost of the tournament is estimated to be around TAG_OPEN_p_5 Rs 3 crore. A main organizing committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prakash Shumsher Rana, chairman of the association’s advisory council and former president of Nepal Taekwondo Association. Also, 13 different sub-committees have been formed.
All the matches of the six-day tournament will be held at the covered hall of the National Sports Council (NSC) in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.TAG_OPEN_p_4
