RPP not to participate in National Assembly election

. KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided not to participate in the National Assembly election scheduled for January 24. Talking to media persons on Friday, party spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that the party has decided not to field any candidate in the National Assembly election as all its energy and resources will be concentrated in the election.

The people who vote in the National Assembly election are the members of the Provincial Assembly and the chiefs and deputy chiefs of the local levels. The RPP currently has 28 provincial lawmakers and chiefs and deputy chiefs of some local units. However, analysts say that the RPP has adopted the strategy of not participating in the National Assembly elections this time to strengthen its position in the House of Representatives and to maintain parliamentary influence.
