Election to the House of Representatives: List of candidates finalized at 3:00 pm today

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has said that the candidates who have filed their candidacies for the House of Representatives election can withdraw their candidacy today.

According to the Election Commission, the candidates can withdraw their candidacies till 1 pm today.

As per the election schedule, the time for withdrawal of candidacy has been fixed from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The final list of candidates will be published from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and symbols will be distributed from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Under the first-past-the-post election system, the names of the candidates were published on January 7 after filing a complaint against the claims.

A total of 3,486 candidates have filed their candidacies in 165 constituencies across the country. Of them, 3,089 are male, 396 are female and one other are in the fray. The nomination papers were filed simultaneously across the country on January 6.

The House of Representatives election is scheduled for March 4. Of the 275-member House of Representatives, 165 will be elected through the first-past-the-post electoral system and 110 through the proportional representation system.
