Kathmandu. Today, there is a risk of significant increase in the flow of water in small rivers and streams in different districts of the country and flash floods in some places.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division, water level is likely to increase in Taplejung, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Udayapur, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Kavrepalanchowk, Kathmandu Valley, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Makawanpur, Chitwan and Nawalparasi in the east and west.
Likewise, water level will rise significantly in Rupandehi, Palpa, Tanahun, Syangja, Lamjung, Kaski, Parbat, Gulmi, Baglung, Myagdi and Karnali districts, and in and around Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Bajura, Humla, Bajhang, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Doti districts of Sudurpaschim Province.
As there is a moderate risk of flash floods in these districts, special alertness has been urged to be taken in areas near rivers and streams, coastal areas and areas with weak geographical conditions.
The Division has urged one and all to take precaution while crossing the rivulets, going to the river banks and moving to the places prone to floods as the water level in small rivers and rivulets may rise suddenly due to the rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces today. According to the Flood Forecasting Division, CCTV cameras have been installed in the Timure area near the Nepal-China border and monitoring of the river.
