KATHMANDU: West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen has been signed for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

The 31-year-old Allen is a left-handed batter and left-arm spinner. He is an experienced player of T20 cricket, who can bat aggressively in the lower order. He has played in various franchise leagues around the world.

Allen has played 20 ODIs and 42 T20 Internationals for the West Indies. In ODIs, he has scored 200 runs and taken seven wickets. In T20 Internationals, he has 298 runs and 24 wickets to his name.

Allen has scored 1,634 runs and taken 109 wickets in 178 matches in all types of T20 cricket. His batting strike rate in this format is 139.89. He has hit 106 sixes.

Allen made his first-class debut for Jamaica in 2016. During the tour of India in 2018, he made a place in the West Indies’ one-day and T20 international teams. He took a break from cricket in early 2022 due to personal reasons and returned to the game in August of the same year.

Since then, he has played in various T20 leagues in the Caribbean, UAE, South Africa, Canada, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Sudurpaschim Royals chief executive officer Prakash Khadka said Allen’s arrival would further strengthen the team’s spin bowling and lower-order batting.

“Fabian Allen is an experienced T20 player. We are confident that his all-round ability will strengthen the team. We expect the team to benefit from his ability to bat aggressively, especially in spin bowling and lower order,” Khadka said.

Allen said he was excited to play in the NPL for the Far-Western Royals.

“I am happy to be a part of the Far-Western Royals. I am excited to come to Nepal and play in the NPL and contribute to the team’s success. I will try to do well in front of the fans,” Allen said.
