Kathmandu. Apple has launched its first foldable smartphone ‘iPhone Duo’. The new foldable iPhone has been launched at the company’s product launch event held in California on Wednesday.
According to Apple, the phone has a 7.6-inch inner display when opened, making it the thinnest iPhone ever. The company claims that the nano-texture finish on the inner screen reduces the reflection of light and provides a large-screen experience for watching videos, playing games, and multitasking.
When the phone is turned off, a 5.4-inch external display is available, which covers about 90 percent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro in a compact design. According to Apple, the content will scale smoothly as both displays have the same aspect ratio.
New chip, dual battery and AI feature
The new A20 Pro chip is used in the iPhone Duo. The company claims that a new thermal management system with a vapor chamber and the technology that operates two batteries in the same system will provide a battery capacity that lasts all day.
According to the company, the battery will last up to 31 hours of video playback in the inner display, up to 44 hours of video playback on the external display, and up to 24 hours of video playback in mixed use. The phone can fast charge up to 50 percent in about 20 minutes and charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes via MagSafe or Qi-2 wireless charging.
48MP camera and new photography feature
The iPhone Duo has a 48-megapixel fusion main camera. It can take pictures at 48 megapixel resolution, telephoto zoom of up to 2 times optical quality, and can take clear pictures even in low light.
Due to the foldable design, new camera features have also been added. Smart Tech automatically takes pictures when the subject is ready, while Duo Preview shows a live preview on the external screen. Kid Q also has the ability to show animation on the external screen to attract the attention of children.
For video recordings, the phone offers features such as 4K 120fps Dolby Vision recording, post-capture cinematic effects and 4K time-lapse.
iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone Duo includes iOS 27 and the new Siri AI based on Apple Intelligence. The company says that it will be able to search, work, and answer questions by understanding the context of users’ messages, emails, photos, and content on the screen.
Apple Intelligence will also allow you to improve image structure, recognize AI-edited images, and notify Safari if prices have dropped or are available in stock.
E-SIM only and price
The iPhone Duo is designed to support eSIM only globally. The company says that it will help increase battery capacity by saving internal space.
This phone will be available in two colors, Star White and Night Sky. The phone, which comes in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB storage options, has a starting price of $ 1,999. Pre-orders will open on October 16 and will go on sale on October 23.
Apple CEO John Turnus has called the iPhone Duo “the biggest change since the original iPhone” and claimed that the combination of hardware and software will take the use of foldable smartphones to a new level. ANI
