Kathmandu. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has appealed to the government to immediately provide communication facilities along with relief management in the disaster-affected areas.
Talking to media persons after the all-party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday, parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi stressed the need of making the Prime Minister Relief Fund more widespread.
He expressed the view that all sides should be mobilized through a single ‘one-door system’ by maintaining transparency in relief management.
Shahi said that the biggest problem in the current disaster is the search and rescue of the missing people. He said that it is difficult to get information about the whereabouts of the people as the communication network is not working in the affected areas.
He said, “The biggest problem in disaster management right now is the missing people. The networks are not working. We do not know where the people are. For this, we have appealed to the immediate implementation of communication facilities along with relief management.” ’
Shahi also objected to the inhuman activities seen by some people during the disaster. He said that there was an activity of extracting gold and other items from the dead bodies of the deceased and urged the Home Minister to take immediate action against those involved in such activities.
“Now the whole Nepali and the world is crying. But the behavior of some of our Nepali brothers and sisters has been seen in such an activity of not even leaving the dead body, pulling gold,” he said.
Shahi said that the government has been urged to identify the people involved in such incidents made public through the video and take immediate action. He said that such incidents have also affected Nepal’s image and prestige at the international level.
