KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah ‘Balen’ has said that the government is engaged in rescue and relief operations as soon as possible at a time when the country is in unimaginable calamity.
In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister stated that the country is facing this disaster together with the cooperation and cooperation of Nepalis around the world and the international community.
He said that the rescue flights have started since 6:30 am and more than 15 flights have been completed. More helicopters are also on standby for the flight.
A rescue team of the Nepal Army has rescued 116 people from Timure of Rasuwa. Among the rescued, 95 are Nepalis and 21 are Indian nationals. In addition, seven Nepali nationals were successfully rescued from the tunnel, said Prime Minister Shah.
Essential supplies are being delivered to the affected areas at a rapid pace. Along with relief materials, generators, portable mobile towers, medical equipment, tents and iron and stone cutting machines are being sent. Temporary arrangements for mobile network and charging will be made soon in the affected areas to facilitate connectivity.
A temporary camp has been set up in Nuwakot and arrangements have been made for food and water. Information collection through drone survey has reached the final stage for efficient rescue. Priority will be given to the sick, elderly, women and children in the rescue by helicopter.
The Prime Minister has requested to wait for the rescue with patience and restraint as all the state machinery is operational. He has also called upon all to face the disaster together with hope and confidence.
