Kathmandu. CPN-UML lawmaker Ain Bahadur Mahar has drawn the attention of the government to take stern action against the culprits of the death of a woman in a road accident in Kailali.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Mahar said that the accident took place near Godavari Municipality-2 of Kailali district at around 4.45 pm on Saturday. Bohara, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle, he added.
After the incident, the relatives of the deceased gathered at the incident site and protested, but instead of taking legal action against the vehicle, the police forcibly took away the body. The husband of the deceased sustained injuries on his head when police resorted to baton-charge, he said.
According to him, some people were injured when police resorted to lathicharge during the protest following the incident. Some of the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, he said. Police said several people were injured with sticks. and hospitalized. His child is a joke.
Lawmaker Mahar demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and stern action against the guilty. He called on the government to be serious to control the carelessness, irresponsibility and anarchy seen in the public transport sector.
