‘Let’s work together for the development of education sector’: Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu. Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has stressed that all three tiers of government should work together for the development of education sector.

At a three-day orientation of stakeholders at the province and local levels on policy, programme, budget and implementation process of education sector held in Dhangadhi of Kailali today, Minister Pokharel said improvement in education sector was possible only through coordination with all levels.

Minister Pokharel said, “The works in education sector cannot be carried out effectively without collaboration with the state and local governments.” Therefore, let’s move ahead together to implement the 10th amendment to the Education Regulations and other Acts and Laws. ”

Stressing the need of maximum dialogue with all stakeholders while formulating education act, policy and laws, Minister Pokharel expressed the belief that all problems could be resolved through dialogue.

On the occasion, Director of Department of Education Rana Prasad Neupane said that the orientation was organized to build common understanding among the province, local level and the Education Development and Coordination Unit (EDCU) in the implementation of various policies, laws, directives, standards and annual programs related to education sector.

Chief of the Coordination Unit, Kailali, Jeevan Neupane, said that the orientation will be held on the education programs of the province, EDCU and local level for the fiscal year 2083÷84. During the orientation, information will be given about education policy, programs and budget, provisions under sector wide approach, indicators related to programs and budget allocation.

Similarly, training will be held on the programmes of the provinces, EDCUs and local levels for the fiscal year 2083/84 and on the development of annual strategic implementation plan and annual action plan and budget based on local education plan. This is expected to facilitate the local levels on how to link their approved education plans with the annual program and budget.

Likewise, discussions will be held on the use of information management system in the school education sector and the use of data obtained from it. Orientation will also be conducted on various standards and policies in the education sector. Chiefs and representatives of education-related bodies from all nine districts of the province are participating in the programme.
