Kathmandu. A total of 74 criminal cases were registered in Kavrepalanchowk last August. During the period, action was taken against 659 vehicles and 76 defendants involved in various incidents were arrested, according to the District Police Office.
According to the progress report made public by the office, out of 74 minor and big criminal cases registered in the past one month, 41 cases have been cleared while the remaining are in the investigation stage. Information Officer of the Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Bista said that the police arrested 76 defendants involved in various crimes during the period. According to him, the graph of economic and financial crimes has been increasing in Kavrepalanchowk for the past few months.
Most of the cases registered at the office are related to banking transactions. A total of 12 cases of theft and theft of motorbikes and cattle were registered. Similarly, cases related to motor vehicle murder, attempt to murder, polygamy and witchcraft charges have been registered. Police have arrested 20 absconding accused in the vehicular murder case on different dates.
Last August, the police had imposed a jail term of one year, four months and 15 days and collected a fine of Rs 2,969,900. Similarly, the police collected Rs 601,500 revenue by taking action against 659 vehicles for road safety and curbing illegal activities.
It has collected Rs 3.17 lakh revenue from the control of tippers involved in illegal excavation of river-based materials. Police have confiscated 1,398 litres liquor and 3,035 litres raw materials from 107 distilleries in different parts of the district.
The Kavrepalanchowk Police has launched 98 public awareness programs against cybercrime, sexual abuse, human trafficking and drug abuse under the Community-Police Partnership Programme to reduce criminal incidence. A total of 19,913 people were made aware through the programme, Bista said. According to him, patrolling and surprise checking and the use of technology have been intensified for the security of people’s property and property.
