Kathmandu. Chairman of the Labour and Culture Party and member of the House of Representatives, Harka Raj Rai, criticized the government for failing to live up to the people’s expectation.
Speaking in the special hour of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, lawmaker Rai raised serious questions on the performance and accountability of various ministries of the government.
He commented that from the Prime Minister to the departmental ministers, they have not been able to fulfill their responsibilities. Rai claimed that the government has failed on fundamental issues such as border security, peace and security, supply of fertilizers and food, employment generation and controlling inflation. He also demanded that the Prime Minister should be present in the parliament and answer the questions of the people clause-wise.
Drawing the attention of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Rai demanded justice to the land mafia in Ramdhuni-7 of Sunsari district. Stating that billions of rupees of the savers of Baraha Savings and Credit Cooperative in Dharan are at risk, he stressed the need of the government to take initiative to return the money.
“The victims of the cooperative have not received their money back, there is no justice in the court and there is no situation to get treatment in the hospital,” Rai said, adding, “The government should be fully accountable to the parliament and the parliament to the people. ’
Speaking about the development works, MP Rai demanded that the tender process for projects across the country including Sunsari-1 be forwarded immediately.
