SC orders to present journalist Kishor Shrestha before court on Monday

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered journalist Kishor Shrestha to be produced before the Supreme Court on Monday. A single bench of Justice Bal Krishna Dhakal today ordered Shrestha to be present before the court after hearing the writ petition filed by the habeas corpus petition.

The court has also ordered to bring two laptops taken from Shrestha’s house and 6 CPUs taken from the office of Jana Aastha Weekly. Shrestha’s wife Saraswati Shrestha had filed a writ of habeas corpus against Shrestha’s detention on Thursday.

After the preliminary hearing on the petition, the order was issued to present him before the court. The Kathmandu District Court remanded Shrestha in custody for three days for further investigation.

Police had arrested journalist Shrestha on Wednesday night after a complaint was filed against him on the charge of personal privacy. Likewise, police also carried out searches at journalist Shrestha’s house and the office of Jan Aastha Weekly.
