Nabil launches ‘Lifetime Free Credit Card’ to apply from home

Kathmandu. On the occasion of its 42nd anniversary, Nabil Bank has launched a special credit card offer for its customers. The bank said in a statement that it will provide ‘Lifetime Free Credit Card’ facility to the customers applying for a new credit card till August 22.

Speaking to us, Mr. Niraj Sharma, Chief Business Officer, Transaction Banking & N Bank, Nabil Bank informed us that the bank has been providing special discount on various banking services on the occasion of its anniversary. According to him, the credit card scheme is one of the main campaigns that are currently being conducted.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma further stated that Nabil Bank is one of the pioneer banks in Nepal’s issuing of credit cards and has been providing credit card service for customers for more than three decades. Generally, the credit card users have to pay ‘joining fee’ and annual fee every year while taking the card, under the special campaign, both fees have been completely waived for life.

“Customers who buy new credit cards by August 22 will not have to pay joining fees and annual fees as long as they are using the card,” he said. ’

Individuals with regular income can apply for the credit card from any branch of Nabil Bank or through N-Bank digital platforms. He said that the service is targeted to salaried employees, businessmen or customers who have regular source of income including rent.

To apply for a credit card, you will need a copy of your citizenship, a passport-size photo and an application form with necessary details. In the case of entrepreneurs, they will have to submit business-related financial statements, tax clearance certificates and other documents. Customers who do not have an account with Nabil Bank are required to provide their bank statements.

According to Sharma, with the expansion of digital banking, customers can apply from home through N-Bank app or web without having to visit the branch. After the online application, the required documents can be uploaded and the bank will issue the card informing the entire process through SMS, email or phone.

Stating that the main feature of the credit card is the interest-free credit period, he said that the customers can use the bank’s money without interest for a maximum of 45 days. The customer will be able to use the facility at no extra charge between billing date and payment date.

The bank has also been providing ‘Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL)’ facility. Under this offer, customers purchasing television, mobile, laptop, home appliances and other durables from Nabil’s branches will be able to pay monthly installments without having to pay a lump sum amount.

Similarly, the credit card users will get special discounts at various restaurants, hotels, hospitals, diagnostic centers, shopping malls and other business establishments. The bank has been providing such discounts and offers in collaboration with its partner institutions.

Sharma said that at a time when e-commerce transactions are on the rise, credit cards will provide additional security to customers. He said that customers will get ‘chargeback’ and other protection facilities in case the goods are not received or the goods as per the details are not received while purchasing online.

According to him, Nabil’s domestic credit card can be used in India as well as Nepal, which will make it easier for passengers and regular transaction customers. “The hassle of carrying money will be reduced, expenses can be managed in a safe and systematic way,” he said.

The bank said in a statement that it has been conducting various schemes to provide easy, secure and modern payment system to the customers through the expansion of digital banking and card services. The bank said that the ‘Lifetime Free Credit Card’ scheme launched on the occasion of its 42nd anniversary is a part of the same.

Similarly, the company has announced a 50% discount on Electronic Payment Gateway (EPG) integration fee and 42% discount on security deposit fee for Safe Deposit Locker service to connect small and large businesses to digital payment system. According to the bank, this facility will remain in place till August 22, 2026.
