Kathmandu. A high-level delegation led by Meta’s Chief Global Affairs Officer Joel Kaplan met with S. S Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. I have met Krishnan.
The meeting took place in New Delhi on Wednesday after a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was removed from Facebook.
According to news agency ANI, during the 45-minute meeting, Meta officials explained the reason for the removal of Prime Minister Modi’s video by mistake.
Meta officials are also expected to meet India’s IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology has asked Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to tender an unconditional apology for the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video.
The committee has warned that if such incidents recur, Meta’s legal protections in India could be affected.
