Kathmandu. Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki has urged all Nepalis to exercise restraint to maintain religious harmony, social unity and national brotherhood.

In his message, PM Oli said Nepal is a country characterized by diversity in religion, language, ethnicity and culture, but it is moving ahead with mutual respect, tolerance and goodwill. Unity in diversity is Nepal’s identity, pride and strength, he asserted.

“Despite differences of religion, language, caste and culture, we have been living together with mutual respect, tolerance and respect,” he said, adding, “Unity in diversity is our identity, pride and strength.” ’

“Although religion, rites and cultures are different, we should respect each other’s culture, traditions and beliefs as the national and common sentiments are the same,” he said.

“Spreading rumours, making provocative statements and acting against the law through social networks is not in anyone’s interest,” he said. He urged the citizens to be responsible and exercise restraint as such activities would lead to tension, mistrust and division in society.

He expressed concern over activities that could disturb religious harmony and create an atmosphere of fear and panic especially in some places of eastern Terai.

He has called upon one and all to adopt the path of prudence, restraint and harmony rather than rumour, provocation and hatred at this sensitive time.

He has appealed to all citizens to maintain social harmony, national unity and brotherhood with patience, tolerance and mutual respect.
