Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has admitted that the situation has arisen due to internal weaknesses in the party. Pokharel has openly confessed his shortcomings to the leaders and cadres at the inauguration of the Mission Party Awareness Campaign organized by the CPN-UML Lumbini Province Committee on Sunday.
“This situation has arisen due to our weakness, we had received some information, where were the weaknesses could not be resolved in time, now there is a need for ideological restructuring,” he said. We should not hesitate to say that this situation has arisen due to internal weakness,” he said. This is the biggest defeat in the party’s life. There is also extreme frustration among the cadres. ’
He said the party was ready for a transformation with purification. “The classes with which we have been doing politics are not with us, they did not trust us, the landless did not trust us, the working class who have gone abroad are not with us. The basis for strengthening the party was broken. The YouTuber led the oppressed class,” he said. The farmers did not trust the party that grew out of the farmers’ movement. We did not believe that justice would be done when our party was in power. Teachers used to organize in the villages yesterday, they also did not believe it. So now we have to work on our own plans rather than anyone’s instructions. ’
General Secretary Pokharel said that he was ready to take decision openly for the aspiration of the party cadres and in the larger interest of the party. He said that due to the wrong narrative created in the society through social media, the good works done by them were only negative.
“There came a time when we didn’t want to listen to our good things. It was known only after the local elections that the urban areas, youths, those living abroad and the squatters were alienated from us, on the basis of that, we ran the mission grassroots and became successful. But what you told the youth to do, it did not happen. We failed,” he said, adding, “There were other youth-centric programmes but they were not effective.” The problem has also been identified. Overall, it means that we should not review it. ’
What’s the problem? Why did the people’s sentiments not be understood? And there is a weakness in how to compete with whom.
“We tried to be strong through the government, but we could not understand the class struggle. In this way, we did not go among the people, but the people came to us. This modus operandi was reversed. We have become power-oriented, people-oriented,” he said.
He said that the Congress did not want a new alliance in the state government. “We were in favour of joining hands with the Nepali Congress, but they could not reach an agreement. He is the one who does not change the leadership. However, they were not ready to change the budget beforehand,” he said. After this, it was said that everyone should unite, but the Congress was not ready. In this sense, it is the result of compulsion. ’
Commenting on the government, General Secretary Pokharel said populism and anarchism were its foundation and such message should be disseminated to the people’s level.
